The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley hosted The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk during the end of September. Light The Night is an annual evening fundraising walk to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by blood cancer. This year’s fundraiser had 1,700 attendees, 1,500 of which were registered walkers, and consisted of 103 walking teams, 10 sponsors, and 400 volunteers. The event raised $228,471 and additional contributions continue to come from retail campaigns and walking teams.
During this spectacular nighttime gathering, participants carry illuminated lanterns in three colors: white lanterns are carried by survivors; red lanterns by supporters; gold ones are carried by those who are walking in memory of loved ones lost to cancer. Each fall, such inspirational Light the Night Walks are held in nearly two hundred communities across North America.
